The nearby Furuno Bank, which rides the edge of the continental shelf, creates a sweet spot for fighting with dynamic Sailfish and Marlin.

Manuel Antonio National Park

was listed by Forbes magazine as among the world's 12 most beautiful national parks. The park has impressive landscapes, four white-sand beaches, lush foliage and a diversity of wildlife that is unequaled. Bring your binoculars and see if how many of its resident wildlife you can find including up to 109 species of mammals, 184 species of birds, both three- and two-toed sloths plus three of Costa Rica’s four monkey species. Off-shore playful dophins and breaching whales put on an incredible show.

Ballena Marine National Park

is a conservation area dedicated to the migrating humpback whales that frequent these waters from December to April. The park also features relatively unvisited stretches of white and golden sand beaches, Playas Uvita and Ballena. Offshore, the largest coral reef on the Pacific Coast of Central America forms a crescent necklace with the three small islands known as Las Tres Hermanas (Three Sisters) and Ballena Island as the center piece.

Corcovado National Park

Corcovado National Park holds a staggering 3% of the world’s biodiversity Lush and vibrant, it is often compared to the Amazon basin or the dipteocarp forests of Malaysia and Indonesia. Featuring 23 miles of beaches, lowland rain forest, highland cloud forest, jolillo palm forest, and mangrove swamps that support a spectacular variety of wildlife including some of the world’s most endangered species like the Jaguar, Scarlet Macaws and Harpy Eagles. A haven for hikers, there are a total os six ranger stations, two with camping areas so you can linger longer and disconnect from the world.

Travel Well

Thanks to the increase of wellness travel to Costa Rica, the Juan Santamaria International Airport ((SJO) in San Jose receives daily flights from the US, Canada, South America and Europe.

From San Jose, two regional airlines offer many regularly scheduled 20-minute flights to Quepos Airport, then it is a 30-minute drive down the scenic Pan American Coastal Highway to reach Bioasis Resort in Dominical.

If you prefer not to take the intra-country flight, then you can easily drive from San Jose to Dominical on a 3-hour jaunt with lots of lovely diversions to explore along the way. We recommend you make the road trip at least once.

20-minute flight to Quepos Airport (XQP). What follows is a scenically beautiful 30-minute drive along the Pan American Coastal Highway to our Bioasis Resort in Dominical.
